He finally did it

Allen bought his motorcycle this week. He's been saving real hard and now, he finally got it. His first bike. He's nice and careful with it, which is good...cause God knows he's absolutely wreckless when he's on his push bike....
So here it is. A small Suzuki. When the law permits him to have a more powerful bike (a year after getting his full motorbike licence) , he'll get one that looks more like a Ninja and less like a Harley...
And by that time, I' ll be allowed to ride along with him.
For now, I'm just jealous when I see him ride off to go ride along the beach.

ZZZzzzz....

Hey, quick question.

Do you know what's more boring than watching a cricket game?
Watching the first day of a FIVE day cricket game.

I'm sorry, I just really don't get it.

Sorry baby.

David Jones

I decided to go and register for wedding gifts today. I didn't think I'd have to, cause only close friends and family are coming to the wedding, but people kept asking us what we wanted, what we needed, and it was becoming overwhelming. So I just went and did it.
Maybe I shouldn't have, cause now I'm getting excited about getting gifts. I sincerely didn't think we'd get any presents. It's a small wedding, and we are just happy to have people come and share our special day with us. But there I was, in the middle of David Jones, looking at some pretty nice stuff.

It's a strange way to shop, putting up a registery, because you sort of go:
'ooooohhh, I hope someone gets me this....ooooh....I hope I get that!!!'
It's like shopping for a surprise. It's pretty weird.
Cause then you get attached to the things you really really want. You wish you could put stars beside things on the list...

And you tell yourself you'll probably go and buy it anyway if you don't get it on your wedding day.

uuuuuuuuhhhhhhhhh

I'm sick.
My sinuses are stuffed, I can't breathe, I have such a headache that I feel like my head is going to implode. I can't stop caughing, and my chest hurts really bad, it hurts all the way across my back. My muscles are tired, my throat hurts so bad everytime I caugh or breathe. It hurts my chest when I breathe as well.
I'm tired of being stuck in bed and on the sofa and have to call in sick at work when I really need the money.
I'm sorry, I needed to whine for a while.

I'm done now.
Back to my kleenex box and loads of fluids.

Family Ties

Today, I missed my family a lot.
Maybe it's because I spoke to my mom today, which I hadn't done in weeks. She has crazy schedule these days... or maybe because Charlie had the chance to go spend a few days down south with her family, celebrating birthdays and such.
I wished I had been home today, with my aunt visiting, spend time with my parents and had the chance to meet with my brother after his work, or seen my cousin after hers, or spend some time with my sister before she headed off to France.

Maybe it's because I've been living alone for the past 2 weeks. You get used to it fast, you like to be able to do certain things, and be as messy as you want, and being able to go to bed as late as you'd like without waking others...you know, stuff like that. Living your life to your own pace and agenda. That's nice.

But then, you realize how different it is, to be living on your own, as opposed to living with 4 other people and a dog. Things are more quiet, let's say.
Wouldn't mind having Guiness to take out for a walk once in a while, you know?
Or a daddy to have supper with. Or a mommy to share good gossip with. Or a sister and a brother to go have a beer with.

When I left for Australia, I knew I'd miss them, I just didn't know how much.
And today, I was. Very much. Maybe because I am so far.
And I'm in Australia. In Adelaide. So far, that if I continued on going, I'd be starting coming back. It's a strange thought.

Oh well. This was a strange post. But that's what was on my mind just now.

A babysitting job

Ah man.

What a night we've had at work!!
There was a cocktail party upstairs for a brithday party.
As soon as the birthday boy arrived to celebrate his 50th, we learned that his mother had died that morning. Man, there was such a weird vibe in the air....

And then, things got out of control. People arrived already drunk, and they were hitting the bar big time, being loud and almost throwing a fit if we didn't give them double shots each time they came around. The party never really took hold (can you blame them?) but people continued to drink and pretend to have a good time. Then, things got really ugly. People started dropping their drinks...sometimes the whole glass as well, smashing in a thousand pieces. Oh, and try to pick that up with 60 people standing around, unwilling to move their feet one inch to help you out.
Some of them started to grab us by the elbow and pulling us towards them to get more food or alcohol instead of simply asking us. And then, because we didn't respond positively to that, they started grabbing and slapping our asses. Yeah. Like THAT would get us to cooperate more!?!?! Oh my God, men can be such pigs. Our manager was on standby to kick them out if they continued doing it.

That group was completely out of control. I even caught some smoking in a corner of the room, right under a non-smoking sign and had to drag them outside. Then, it was the throwing up in the bathrooms, smashing more glasses...oh, and at the end of the nignt, of course, it was MY job to get all the shattered glass out of the urinals.
Oh goodie.
That night, I swear, we weren't waitresses, we were adult babysitters. And that is NOT what I signed up for.

I never missed a movie set so much.

Somewhere over the Rainbow...

It's been raining for 8 days.
It's been kinda cold, and very windy. Kinda depressing.
But this afternoon, skies cleared up, and here is what I saw from my balcony.
Beautiful.

Which one would you choose?

Oh, and while I wasn't watching Cricket today, I learned that the Australian team's captain is named Michael Vaughn. Hum...Which one would you choose?

Aussie TV

So it's sunday and it's raining.
Allen somehow fried the DVD player before he left for the desert. So I can't watch DVD'S in the house, except for in my room on my computer, and I can't watch my aussie DVD's, cause they are zone 5 ones....

Ok, so I'm stuck at home for a few hours cause I'm waiting for the director of this week's shoot to pick me up to go and shoot a few pick up shots. So I'm cleaning a bit and flipping through the 4 channels of the TV.
Channel 7: Cricket.
Channel 9: Footy.
Channel 10: Cricket.
Channel SBS: Italian news in Italian.

Ok, so here's a thought. If you only have 4 channels, wouldn't you think it's a bit stupid that two of them are showing the exact same thing at the exact same time??
I know Australians love their Cricket, but come on, how exciting can a 5 DAY game get?
And it's day 3 or something. My god. I'm sorry, but players who stay clean in their way-too-white-over-preppy uniforms can't possibly be playing a real sport. Or a game that's so long the players have to break to eat and sleep can't possibly be exciting enough to occupy 50% of the total Australian TV available channels. That's my humble oppinion.

I miss hockey.

It's a wonderful life

Today was a wonderful day.
Woke up at 5, (ok, not the greatest time to get up when it's cold and dark...)
but I got on set and shot all day. With people I respect and admire. I had fun. And I will be paid for it. My father was right when he said: '' when you find a job that you love, you never work a day in your life.'' Oh yeah.

Then, a message on my phone. The producer found my sunnies. Oh my God!! I'm soooo happy!!Yeeeee! My oakleys!!!!

After the shoot, Nick and I joined film friends at a movie people gathering in Adelaide that was promoting HD and XD technology. Our feature was the big hit of the night. People congratulated me and praised my work with the steadicam. I was dirty from the set, I was in shabby clothes, my hair all messed up and not a drop of makeup. But man, I felt wonderful.

Then, out to a Thai dinner among close friends. And a movie. In the biggest theatre in the cinema.

My pregnant friend Charlie and her boyfriend Michael put an offer on a house. They were sure they weren't going to get the loan, nor the bid. They got both, and got the house. That's truly wonderful. The house and the neighborhood is perfect for their child to grow up in. I'm so happy for them.

Then, to top off an almost perfect day (it would have been perfect if Allen was home so I could tell him everything and cuddle up on this chilly night), Charlie told me that my bosses and the chef at Jolley's made us an incredible-never-before-seen deal on the room upstairs so I could afford having my wedding reception there.
Oh my God!!!
I'm so happy!!! It's incredible.
Those guys are just so good to me.

I have a cold, my throat hurts and I'm caughing. But I feel great. Oh so great.

Formal Announcement

We are getting married!

September 10th. In 5 weeks!!! Woah...
How many great obstacles and tests we have surpassed, Allen and I.
And now, finally, he will be my husband. I am the luckiest girl.
But that announcement must come as no surprise. Four years we have fought to have the privilege to be together. At long last. For us, marriage will not be a cage or a ball and chain, but a liberation. Love you babe.

Booo hooo

I left my oakley glasses in the production office after a day on set. The next day, I called the producer to tell her I left them there, and she said she'd seen them, and that she would get them so I could come by and pick them up. A few days later, I walk up to the office only for the producer to tell me that she couldn't find them. She thinks someone might have grabbed them and left with them....

Booo hooooo.....!!!!! My oakleys!!!!!
They don't make that model anymore....
I've had them for 8 years. That's a long time to get attached to a pair of sunnies.
I'm sooooo sad.
And now, I don't have any money to buy a new pair. And I wouldn't find the sames ones again anyway. And all that because I was distracted for one second.....

Man, sometimes, I just feel like the stupidest girl.....

Rough landing

Oh my god. I just finished watching the late night news. Ok, so it might be old news for my family and friends back home, but here, it's quite fresh. The Air France flight that crashed upon landing in Toronto. Woah. I was waiting for the death toll. To my astonishment, there was none.

'Hun? No one killed? Wow, how fantastic!! But how can that be?' I told my self while watching the plane in flames with its wings and top half missing. Apparently, the emergency team of Toronto got to the plane in 52 seconds. For a second there, I was very proud of my fellow Canadians. I just can't believe every single person got out of tha plane intact, or close from.
I'm impressed.

Well done guys.

It's really always summer

Ok, so Australians have absolutely no reason to whine about the weather.
Adelaide is not the hottest city in the country - far from; it's 32 degrees in mid-winter in Darwin today... But lets say we here people who say that it gets cold in winter in Adelaide are just a bunch of over-fragile-softies. It was 21 degrees today. 21!!!!! Man, I was out and about at the markets in a pair of jeans and a t-shirt. Right in the middle of a so-called winter. Man, life is sweet down here.

Oh, and by the way, the actress who plays the red head ditz in The Wedding Crashers is Australian. I just found out. She's on Rove Live with Owen Wilson. Nothing better to do on a Tuesday night than watch Rove Live when you have no money and your better half is gone for 2 weeks. Just a tip.
