No water

This morning, I woke up to find out that I couldn't take a shower today. No water.
The weird lady who lives downstairs somehow blew up the tank, and now, we are waiting for the plummer. God knows plummers are never on time. He'll probably be here sometime next week.

Until then, I have to find a way to be presentable and smellable for work today.

The Best Kind

I will never get tired of this kind of tiredness.

We have shot all day today. Running around, creating shots, handheld, steadicam, the lot. Saw great moments. Met great people.

I am exhausted. It's great.
I love it.
I love my job.

Petite Juliette

Charlie is a mom!

Charlie had her baby yesterday afternoon!

A little girl called Juliette Pamela Hoffmann. 7 pounds, 12 ounces.
I don't have a picture yet because we are going to visit her at the hospital this afternoon. She was born on Australia Day, January 26th. A true Aussie baby!
It was 41 degrees...man. Good thing that hospital had air conditionning, or else, Charlie might not be with us today.

Can't wait to meet the little bundle!

Pictures to come tomorrow.

Milions of peaches

I did something very exotic the other day.
I picked peaches out of a tree. PEACHES!! Out of an actual tree!!
And then, I ate them.
Man, they were so good.
Sweet, ripe, just right.

Hope everyone gets to do that one day.

42 and a half.

So this has been the number of the day for the past few days.

It took Allen and I 42 hours and 30 minutes to get from my parent's house in Canada to our appartment in Adelaide. It was long, boring, but at least, we were together during the trip. I don't remember the last time I actually boarded a plane with somebody I knew.It was nice.
But after all that time in airplanes and aiports, you kinda wish you can go home, kick back an relax, especially with a 15 and a half hour jetlag. Yeah, I was keen for a long nap in my bed, and putting the things I got in Canada away in their respective places (something I just loooove to do when I come back). But mother nature had other plans.

When we arrived in Sydney, it was a nice and cool 23 degrees. Ah, perfect, I thought. Adelaide is always a bit warmer than Sydney, so I was thinking it might be about 26-27 degrees back home. A perfect temperature to come home to.

Boy was I wrong. To honor the number of the day, it was 42 and a half DEGREES!!!!!!
CELCIUS!!!!!!!

Oh. My. God.

We walked in our appartment, and it was LITERALLY like walking into a sauna. No figure of speach here. It hit me like a *&^$$#%&$^& ton of bricks. I had troubble breathing. We opened up the windows and doors. Big mistake. A wind that felt like a giant hot blow drier came rushing in. I changed immidiately, in a pair of shorts and a tshirt, but I felt dizzy. I walked around the house, trying to find a spot that would let me breathe for a minute, but everywhere was just as hot. I really felt uneasy. I went into the shower to have a really cold one. Do you think that helped?
No.
I got out, and I almost passed out.
I brabbed a small towel and wet it with cold water. I would carry it with me, wiping myself with it so that the air would cool me down. Hint: that technique does not work in almost 43 degre temperature. Oh, and did I mention our appartment is on the second floor? So we get the hot air that rises from the appartment below us. To make things worse. Seriously, I have never been in this much heat before.
Nothing works to refresh you. NOTHING.
I felt faint, I thought I was going to pass out. Really.
Allen decided to call his mom and ask her if we could crash at her place so we wold actually survive the night and get a bit of shut eye.

Today is our third day at his mom's. It is still over 42 degrees.

Oh, and did I mention it will be even hotter next week?

If you know anyone who does not believe that there is a 'rechauffement de la planete', and still go on and drive their enormous HUMMER or giant SUV in the city, or anywhere, for that matter, hit them. Cause them pain.

Or worst, send them down here.
They will get it pretty quick, I tell you.

Seriously, I don't know how I will survive another day like this.
And a night in my appartment.

All gone

I did something kinda crazy today.
I spent the day with my cousin Annie and she offered to give me a trim. She's a pretty good hairdresser, and she likes giving people a makeover...
I thought I could use a lift, specially hair wise, so I went over to her house.
We went down to the drugstore cause we thought we could give my hair a bit of a color kick. So there she went. A color. Streaks. And my trim.
After all that, I looked pretty good. But then, while I was playing around with my new hair, I grabbed the back up, and my cousin went wild. She said I should cut them shorter.

Here's the thing with my hair. I've always wanted to have it long. I was well on my way to let them grow long, but it's so thin that it has no body at all. I have tried many things in the past few weeks, nothing seems to work long enough so that my hair still looks good after a few hours. I think I had a inner conversation with myself and sort of made peace with the fact that I might never look good with long hair because of its thinness. So I let her do it. She put the cissors into my hair, and she and her boyfriend styled it up, and frankly, I think I like it better this way.

Now, we'll see how good I am taking care of it this way.
I'll put a picture up soon.
But my God, it's always such a shock to see an immense amount of hair on the floor.
(And to see your hair short after it's been cut cause there is not mirror in which you can see you hair being cut)

Thanks Annie. For taking such time and effort to make me look nice.
You're great.

Tout le monde en parle

I just watched a review of the best moments of 2005 of a french-canadian show called
TOUT LE MONDE EN PARLE (Everyone is talking about it)
with my dad. Man, it was great. I realized how much I missed the great quebec tv talk shows. Like UN GRAND BLOND AVEC UN SHOW SURNOIS, that was great too. So funny and spontaneous. Light, fun and true. Wonderful.
There is really nothing in australia or the us that quite compares to it.
I wish my parents had a dvd recorder, so they could burn and send a few episodes to me. I feel like home when I watch them.

I miss Marc Labrèche, and now, I'll miss Guy A. Lepage as well.

2005

Les faits saillants.

Je me suis construit un chez-moi à Adélaïde.
J'ai travaillé sur mon premier long métrage.
Je me suis mariée. (!)

Life is strange.

Another one down

Yep, the ball has fallen everyone.

Lots of love, health and stuff.
May you spend time with the people you love.

(I'll do the unoriginal 2005 recap tomorrow.)
