Crickey!!

We herd as soon as it happened. It's terrible.
La commotion en Australie. Un icĂ´ne est mort.
Steve Irwin was slashed by a sting-ray while filming a doco about the sea's deadliest creatures. I'll say. Apparently, if the tail of the ray touches you, it acts like the tip of a war mousquet. It stings, it penetrates, it's like a potent poison.

Steve had an immediate cardiac arrest and no one could revive him.

Ironically, we all thought that the Crocodile Hunter would probably die eaten by a croc. Nope. It was all very sudden, but when you have that kind of job, let's face it, death follow you around. Yet, Steve was a pro. Sometimes it seemed like nothing could hurt him. All this is very sad. Not to mention he was filming the doco with his young daughter.

When you think about him, you remember the very enthousiastic, quirky guy who had more energy than the energizer bunny. He was like a caricature, yes, but he was passionate about animals and environment conservation. He did a great deal for the wildlife sanctuary that is Australia.

You gotta love him for that.
